How CCTP Works
Circle's Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) is a permissionless on-chain utility that enables native USDC and EURC transfers between blockchains. Unlike traditional bridges that use wrapped tokens and liquidity pools, CCTP burns tokens on the source chain and mints the exact same amount on the destination chain.
This burn-and-mint mechanism eliminates slippage, removes the need for liquidity providers, and ensures every transferred token is fully backed by Circle's reserves.
